Good to know
  • No calculator can tell you whether a video will go viral, so this one does not try. It shows how fast views are arriving and how that compares with your own earlier videos at the same age.
  • View counts on a brand new video lag behind, and YouTube may not count every view straight away, so early numbers can jump when they are updated.
  • Views per hour are an average since upload. Most videos get more views in the first hours than later, so the average falls with age even when nothing is wrong.
  • To get your earlier videos’ views at the same age, check YouTube Studio: the video’s Analytics page can show views in the first 24 hours or 7 days. Use the same age for all of them.

About the Video Pace Calculator

?What the video pace calculator does

It shows how fast a new video is getting views: views per hour since upload, the pace between two readings you took, and how the video compares with your earlier videos at the same age.

It does not predict that a video will go viral. Nothing can, and a score would be invented. It only reports the pace of the numbers you type. Everything runs in your browser.

→How to check a new video’s pace in 3 steps

★Examples

1

Average pace

4,200 views, 36 hours after upload.

Example:

4,200 ÷ 36 = about 117 views an hour on average.

2

Pace between readings

1,500 views at 12 hours and 4,200 at 36 hours.

Example:

It gained 2,700 views in 24 hours, or 112.5 an hour, against 125 an hour before.

3

Against earlier videos

Your earlier videos had 3,100, 5,000 and 2,400 views at 36 hours.

Example:

The median is 3,100, so 4,200 views is 1.35 times that.

♥Limits to know about

✓

Not a prediction

Early pace does not tell you where a video will end up.

✓

Averages fall with age

Most videos get their fastest pace early, so the average drops over time.

✓

Counts can lag

View counts on a new video update with a delay.
